Most residential doors that typically swing inward conform to the sizing in the chart above. Note that the door jamb and door stop leave the exposed surface area of the door nearly an inch narrower than the door. If the kick plate is run behind the stop it affects the weather-strop seal and leads to heat loss, not to mention the odd appearance. Even commercial doors which typically swing outward are nominally sized and are actually narrower than the nominal size.
Laser-Cut numbers applied to Kick-Plates stand out, and are suitable for both home and commercial use.

Brass Accents

Kick-Plates can be ordered with addressing or without. Addressing is done in laser-cut vinyl lettering that carries a manufacturer's life-of-the Kick-Plate Warranty. The kick-Plates themselves are available in ten finishes on solid Brass, Aluminum, or Stainless Steel. Sizes from 6" x 28" to 8" x 40".

You can put as much information as you'd like on the kick-Plate but as you add information, the text necessarily becomes smaller and smaller. Most numerical addresses are completed in 4" high characters - approx 3" wide, each. Lower case characters are 2" wide and proportional to the upper-case letters. Our design team will work out the best placement and largest lettering or numbering possible.

Numbered Kick-Plates are usually shipped on the 4th or 5th business day. Plain Kick-Plates are usually shipped the next business day.

Custom sizes up to 96" wide are available. Call us for information and pricing. 1-800-325-6262.

Alternate Mounting Methods of Kick Plates

Kick-Plates are shipped with finish-matched Philps-head screws for mounting. Alternatives include our Magnetic Mount and our Adhesive Mount

The Magnetic Mount has an all-over rear surfacing similar to a refrigerator-magnet business card, but of much better quality. It will adhere to steel doors, but not stainless steel or aluminum.

The Adhesive Mount comprises a series of adhesive strips along the rear of the Kick Plate. The adhesive mount will adhere to a wood, metal, or fiberglass door, so long as the mounting surface is smooth.

FOR MOST DOORS, order a kick-plate 2" narrower than the width of the door, so that the kick-plate does not interfere with the door frame and can therefore close properly.
