Brazilian Oak Counter Tops
Oak is known for its durability, and Brazilian Oak harder than American Oak, and difficult to work because of its hardness. To demonstrate - Brazilian Oak measures 1912 on the Janka hardness scale. American Red Oak measures 1290 and Teak, only 1000. One of these counter tops will last a lifetime. It will darken somewhat becoming redder, and browner over time.
Counter-tops are pressure laminated. The joins are stronger than the wood itself and will never delaminate. Grain always runs the "long" way. In other words, once installed, when facing the counter you'll observe the grain running from left to right.
Counter tops can be shaped to fit your kitchen or bath or other room setting by the local installer. For stability, end-grain tops are available only 1.75 " thick and thicker.. Counter tops are delivered unfinished unless specified otherwise, above.. Note that counter tops are custom cut and generally non-refundable. Also, tops are shipped by truck and the shipping charge you see in the shopping cart will be incorrect. We will phone you within 24 hours of your order to give you the actual total shipping cost. Your order will not be sent to production and your credit card will not be charged, until after you approve the shipping charge. Delivery time is usually between four to six weeks.
